Olympic Torch in Glasgow

As the UK prepares for the 2012 London Olympics, the Olympic Torch has been touring towns and cities up and down the country. On Friday 8th June history was made as the Torch Relay arrived in Glasgow for the first time ever.

I was part of the team from Mallard Productions who had four camera crews across the City capturing the days events - keeping up with Olympic Torch Relay and the celebrations at George Square.

Tens of thousands of people turned out across Glasgow to get a glimpse of the Torch and Torch Bearers who ranged from local heroes to celebrities including Glasgow's own stunt cyclist Danny MacAskill, comedian Des Clarke and actor James McAvoy.

Over 17,000 people turned out to a special evening concert in George Square - one of only 4 to be hosted throughout the UK. Performers included General Fiasco, Eliza Doolittle and Emeli Sande. The evenings celebrations culminated in the torch being carried into George Square and lighting an Olympic Cauldron.
