I was proud to have played a small part in the BBC election operation at Holyrood, working alongside colleagues from BBC Scotland, BBC Wales and S4C yesterday.
It’s easy to watch election TV coverage without fully appreciating the scale behind it. Hundreds of live feeds, outside broadcasts, studios, galleries, correspondents, results centres, graphics and technical teams all have to come together seamlessly for more than 12 hours of live television.
From our position at the Scottish Parliament, it was impressive to see the coordination involved in bringing together coverage from across the country in real time, while keeping broadcasts on air continuously through one of the busiest and most technically demanding days in live news. A huge team effort.
